The ORTNER

The ORTNER® is a revolutionary concept for dewatering, removing fines, classifying and rinsing sand and other materials up to 2 inches. The ORTNER® has the performance capabilities and advantages unmatched by other machinery.

Ortner can wash fine and course material up to 3 inches. The flexibility of The ORTNER® enables you to produce many varied products with one machine.

Dry material may be fed to the ORTNER® to remove excess fines or rinse coarse material by adding a small quantity of water.

When fed a wet slurry, as from a density separator or a hydrocyclone, the ORTNER® may be used to dewater the product. The ORTNER® may be used to remove excess fines from the slurry or it may classify the slurry.

Operation

The operation and principle are simple. Material is fed to a slowly revolving pan on an incline and vibrated at high speed. The high speed vibration quickly separates the various sizes of material with the fines and water rising to the top and flowing over the pan's edge to the discharge. The coarser particles sink to the bottom. The rotating pan carries the settled particles up the machine and out of the water, where a stationary plow diverts the dewatered material to a center discharge spout. The driving and vibrating mechanism is mounted under the pan, preventing any contamination with the water and processed material, thus increasing the life of the components.

It is possible to vary the angle, speed, and vibrations of the pan. This gives the ORTNER® a wide range of flexibility and increases its capacity and efficiency.

Design Features

DRIER PRODUCT. High efficiency produces dry product for ease of conveying and stockpiling.

LESS POWER. Horsepower requirements range from 2-15 HP depending on model. Normally one-fifth the power consumption of conventional machines.

HIGH CAPACITY. Unmatched performance capabilities and flexibility.

LESS WATER. A relatively small amount of water is needed to rinse and remove excess fines.

LESS WEAR. Lowest wear and maintenance cost results from simple design.

LESS WEIGHT. Compact and lightweight for portability and easy installation.

Selection and Testing

The proper ORTNER® application and sizing must take into consideration the type of material, feed gradations, product specifications, water in feed and availability, tonnage required and feed particle shape. Aggregates Equipment, Inc. has testing facilities to assure proper ORTNER® selection and applications. Aggregates Equipment, Inc. will be pleased to test and make recommendations.

The bivi-TEC Screen

There is a growing need to classify manufactured sand, sand and gravel, waste materials, raw materials, semi-finished products, and finished products more effectively. Conventional vibrating screens and trommel screens are very limited when screening materials that cause a build-up on the screen, which results in clogging or blinding of the screen openings. The bivi-TEC® was developed to screen even the most demanding materials.

The bivi-TEC® proves to be the best machine for screening:

  • Manufactured sands, chips and aglime
  • High-moisture materials combined with silt, mud, and clay.
  • Incinerator ash, trash, waste coal, clay, sand, and slag.
  • Compost, leafy materials, wood waste, and peat moss.
  • Auto shredder fluff, shredded tires, and roofing shingles.

The bivi-TEC Solution

Developed to screen even the most problematic materials, the bivi-TEC offers a superior screening solution for Superpave sands, scrap materials, compost, incinerator ash and others. The bivi-TEC’s unique dual-vibratory screening process eliminates clogging and blinding of the screen openings to save downtime and increase productivity.

Dual vibration from a single drive is the unique feature of the bivi-TEC® Screen. Two weights, vibrating at the same frequency, move relative to each other which tensions and relaxes the screen mats. The linear momentum of both vibrating movements is adjustable, resulting in open screen surfaces and optimal screening performance.

The bivi-TEC Operating Principle

To assure the most effective screening, high-acceleration forces must be transferred to the feed material. The bivi-TEC® Screen achieves these high forces by dynamically tensioning and relaxing the flexible screen mats using a dual-vibration principle. Enhanced by resonance, one drive can produce two vibration movements. The screen box is accelerated approximately 2g's while the screen mats can receive up to 50g's.

Applications, once judged impossible, can now be accomplished with the bivi-TEC
® Screen.

 The bivi-TEC Advantages

  • Fine screening of moist material.
  • Eliminates blinding and plugging.
  • Large effective screen area-high capacity.
  • Effective in all weather conditions.
  • Highly flexible for varying material requirements.
  • Long life polyurethane screen mats.
  • Rugged construction/low maintenance.
  • Lower energy usage.
  • Low profile.

Testing and Demonstration

To properly size the bivi-TEC® for each individual application, the following factors must be considered: material type, feed gradation, product specifications, moisture content, and required capacity.

AEI has portable bivi-TEC
® plants for testing at your site.

Screen Mats

The bivi-TEC® Screens are designed for screen cuts of 50 mesh to 2 inches. The boltless attachment of polyurethane mats guarantees effective screening, rapid changing of screen mat, and elimination of clogging. The 13" wide mats offer greater flexibility in tuning the screen to achieve the final product-resulting in a lower replacement cost. Approximately 25 minutes is needed to change 50 square feet of screen surface.

Sized to Meet Your Needs

The bivi-TEC® is available in sizes ranging from 800mm X 3M (3' x 10') to 3000 mm x 9M (10' x 30').
The following options are also available:
  • single deck
  • double deck
  • rigid scalping deck
  • portable/stationary units
  • custom sized to fit your installation
Each bivi-TEC® screen is built to fit the customer's specifications. AEI can also engineer and manufacture a complete material processing system including: conveyors, stackers, supports, chutes, etc.
